Coron, Palawan

Tucked into the limestone islands of northern Palawan, Coron is one of the Philippines' most striking island-hopping destinations, known for jagged karst cliffs, hidden lagoons and some of the clearest water in the country. It pairs easygoing town life with world-class snorkelling, freshwater lakes and a cluster of well-preserved World War II shipwrecks just offshore. Whether you come to dive, swim or simply slow down, Coron rewards travellers with scenery that feels genuinely untouched.

Best time to visit

The dry season from late November to May offers the calmest seas and best visibility for island hopping and diving, with March to May the warmest and busiest. Avoid the wetter, windier months of July through September if you want reliable boat tours.

Getting around

Most visitors fly into Busuanga (USU) airport and transfer by van to Coron town, then explore by booked island-hopping boats or chartered bangka. In town, tricycles handle short trips, and tours typically include round-trip boat transfers.

Insider tip

Book island-hopping tours a day or two ahead and bring reef-safe sunscreen plus water shoes, as many lagoon entry points are rocky and some sites enforce eco rules.
